The Quote That Explains Everything
Why German car manufacturers reject FSD – even though it's convincing
Elon Musk has been offering for years in every Earnings Call, every Shareholder Meeting and in dozens of tweets:
„Take FSD, integrate it, let's shape the future together!"
The response from the German auto industry? Silence. And blockade.
An OEM insider has finally spilled the beans – and it's devastating.
"It just reduced them to a box maker rather than to a car maker.
And their choice is they're doomed if they do and they're doomed if they do not.
So I guess the choice they made is: let's survive as long as we can and let's hope the consumer doesn't jump on this train as quickly as we fear."
Translated: FSD would reduce them to mere "box makers" – no own brain 🧠 anymore.
They are damned if they join (loss of know-how 💡), damned if not (missing the train).
That's why they block. That's why they delay 🐌. That's why they lie to us 🤥.
PS: Most legacy manufacturers just assemble supplier parts anyway – "Box maker" wouldn't actually be such a big change 🤭. ;-)
This is not a technology problem.
This is a survival problem.
FSD is not "a bit better software". It is the result of 10+ years of development,
billions in investments and an unprecedented data collection –
impossible to replicate without the same groundwork.
🧠 What’s really behind Tesla FSD

Every Tesla is a rolling data lab
📅
10+ Years
Continuous development
Since 2014 Autopilot, since 2020 FSD Beta
✅ Tesla has:
✓End-to-End Neural Network – no more handwritten code
✓11 Bn km real driving data – exponentially growing
✓Own AI Chips (HW3, HW4, AI5, AI6)
✓Robotaxi running – in Austin since June 2025
✓Cybercab – purpose-built robotaxi from 2026
✓Vertical Integration – from chip to software all in-house
This is not a comparison like "getting a few more HP out of the engine".
This is like the difference between a pocket calculator and a supercomputer.
Between a city map and Google Maps with real-time traffic.
Between a library and the entire internet.
Autonomous Kilometers in Comparison (As of: December 2025)
German manufacturers can't catch up in 2-3 years what Tesla has built in 10+ years.
The only question is: Do they license FSD from Tesla – or disappear?
